No, life is not about money.
There is a lot of stuff that we can buy, but the most important things in life are not on that list. For me, honesty and integrity are everything. You cannot put a price on them. And then, there is love, health, peace of mind and a bunch of other stuff that can bring true happiness, none of which are available to purchase, regardless of your financial wealth.
With some statistics showing that 3% of the richest people earn 97% of all the money in the world I believe that I’m safe to say that I’m not the only one with the money repellent in my pocket. I’m also pretty sure that, just like me, many people would say that they don’t care about money. That life is not about money.
And it isn’t!
But the fact that we have great values doesn’t mean that we don’t want to live decent lives. It doesn’t mean that we enjoy working long hours in companies where our skills and expertise are undervalued and unappreciated, and it definitely doesn’t mean that we don’t dream about sunny holidays and quality time spent with our children and loved ones.
So maybe we claim that we don’t care about money, but surely we do stress about it, while Friday to Friday feels like eternity but paycheck to paycheck goes in the blink of an eye.
Ok, let’s be honest here. Unless we decide to go on and live like a cavemen and hunt our food with arrows and spears, we need cash. So we might as well make peace with money and change our perspective and feelings about it.
And to do that we must be willing to remove our limiting beliefs and replace them with new, empowering ones.
