A while ago, on a Monday morning, I was listening to a radio while driving to work. It’s a morning show that I like, presented by three interesting people who provide a lot of useful information, along with great music and entertainment. That morning one phrase, said by one of the presenters, really caught my attention and got me thinking. The phrase was ‘Get Monday out of the way’.
Personally, I don’t believe in time. It’s just there to rob us of joy and life that we might be able to live if we didn’t have to count every single second of it. Clock says time to get up, clock says time to go to work, clock says eat, drink, sleep, repeat. Or it might be that my problem with time is that I already spent too much of it doing what I felt I had to do and being where I believed I had to be. On time.
Well, of course we want to get Monday out of the way. It’s forcing us to do what we don’t want to do and to be where we don’t want to be. It’s also too far away from Friday and honestly, it’s blocking the view. And all that we can see is work, problems and dissatisfaction, until the day when we realise that the time has passed and it’s too late.
The good news is, it doesn’t have to be this way and even better news is, you can make a decision to change your life regardless of your current situation and how old you are.
If you have any doubts that this is true for you, let me ask you. Do you know where you’re going in your life? Or are you too busy running in circles? When you get up in the morning, are you grateful for another day that you’ve been given, so that you can continue your journey, or do you wake up feeling already exhausted, dreading everything that lies ahead? Are you dressing up with the fake smile and pushing yourself to keep going because you believe that, that’s the way it has to be and there’s nothing you can do?
I am going to repeat myself. It doesn’t have to be this way and there is a lot you can do.
To start with, you can close your eyes, breathe, feel the moment and connect to your soul. Imagine the life you love living. What does it look like? How does it feel? Can you hear your favourite song?
Now open your eyes and make a decision to make it happen. There is only one thing that you need in life to avoid staring at your problems and that is a goal. Set a big, beautiful goal that brightens your days and makes your soul happy. If you think that you can’t do something, if you feel that what you want is not available to you, ask yourself why you believe that. Then challenge your beliefs.
Your life might not change instantly but if you keep your eyes on your goal and shift your focus from problems and negativity to challenges and possibilities you will definitely change the way you feel. Your life will take on a new direction bringing you joy, satisfaction and fulfilment with every step you take that gets you closer to you goal.
And if you hear someone saying ‘Get Monday out of the way’? Well, you will smile and think, that might be an interesting topic for my next story.
